A visually appealing day care facility within a complex mixed-use development on a sloping site amongst a range of other businesses.
Issues of access, privacy, acoustics and fire separation needed to be considered, while creating a bright and colourful environment for the staff and children. The solution utilises the constraints of the site to its best advantage.
The required size outdoor play area was formed directly to the north of the indoor play areas and ancillary areas. The outdoor area is essentially a north-facing raised platform that allows for privacy while providing an open space for children to play, learn and interact.
The building exterior is a restrained palette of precast panels with a combination of the Discoveries Educare brand colours, exposed aggregate, natural concrete and also the introduction of natural growing green wall panels to add variety and texture to the building’s appearance.
