Lynfield Pensioner Housing Development

Built adjacent to Lynfield Shopping Centre in West Auckland, this project involved purpose built housing for low income senior tenants that was a marked departure from traditional state housing and provides a quality living environment.

The planning application was supported by the inclusion of an Australian based Urban Planner and included extensive consultation with the local community. The final design comprised of 50 two bedroom dwellings in four blocks that varies between 2-3 storeys, a common room and a caretakers unit. A basement carpark connects to the units above via several lifts, and provides covered parking for half the 51 carparks provided on site..

Views from the apartments are maintained and balanced with preserving privacy for their habitable areas; ground floor units have private garden areas. Plastered exterior walls combined with cedar shutters and tiled decks to enhance the residential feel.
