Childcare and Strip Retail, Auckland

Situated on one of West Auckland’s busiest arterial routes, this retail development needed to maximise leasable space while overcoming challenges around access and parking. WMZA designed the site to include a main thoroughfare off one entry and a second, calmer entry into the heart of the development. Taking advantage of the site’s excellent visibility to commuters – and adding to the leasable area – a childcare centre was provided in the second floor tenancy. Further value was added with a palisade-like screen that provided a feature element, as well as some shading to the western elevation and childcare centre. Exterior landscaped play areas on the upper floor of the main building add further amenity.
